Since the release of WordPress 3.0, many of my clients, who have since upgraded, have found their Ajaxed WordPress comments acting a little funny.
Commenters are able to comment fine, but there pops up a little red “Error Received” after submission. This is due to an addition of one single, little, annoying line of a few characters in the wp-comments-post.php file.
==>> PLEASE NOTE YOU ARE MODIFYING CORE FILES THAT WILL BE OVERWRITTEN IF YOU UPGRADE YOUR WP SOFTWARE <<==
So here’s how to fix it…
- Log in to your server via your admin panel or an ftp program (we like Filezilla and Cyberduck)
- In your root directory find the wp-comments-post.php file and download it to a place that’s easy for you to find (like your desktop)
- Make a duplicate copy, just in case!
- Open the file and find the code line that looks like this (at the VERY bottom, next to the last line) and remove “exit;”
- Save and upload
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask! If you aren’t comfortable doing this yourself, we can take care of it for you for just $35.
